Are you looking for a healthy alternative to the mid afternoon “junk food” snack? This healthier treat may be just what you are looking for, dark chocolate sea salt almonds.

Ingredients:
6 ounces bittersweet or semi-sweet high quality chocolate (I use dark chocolate)
1 1/2 cups of raw, unsalted whole almonds
sea salt
any coarse raw sugar (I use turbinado sugar)

Directions:
1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
2. Melt the chocolate in a double broiler or the microwave (I use the microwave but you want to be sure and not burn the chocolate), melt in 30 second increments stirring after each increment until it is completely melted. Make sure you put the chocolate in a medium heat-proof bowl if you are using the microwave
3. Stir the almonds into the chocolate making sure to coat all the almonds. Using a fork lift the almonds out of the chocolate making sure to remove excess chocolate. Put covered almonds on the parchment papered baking sheet, repeat until all almonds are out of the chocolate.
4. Sprinkle the chocolate almonds with a little sea salt and raw sugar. Put the finished almonds in the refrigerator to completely set before eating.
5. Chocolate covered almonds can be stored up to 4 weeks in the refrigerator.
ENJOY!
